On November 9th, 2021, the China Talk, a famous Chinese internet channel, hosted 119 National Fire Protection Day's feature program, invited Prof. Huiling Jiang of RIMSS to share her views on the development of fire protection and the new technology implementation in China.
Prof. Huiling analysed the key points of the development of fire protection in China from the perspective of improving related policy and law, techniques, and talents. Prof. Jiang also informed that the national fire protection awareness had been continuously rising for three decades in response to promoting fire protection technology and infrastructure.
Next, Prof. Huiling proposed that it is essential to leverage the fire protection design cooperating with reliable devices and the timely rescue where the architecture style of buildings is getting increasingly diverse. Moreover, the innovation of fire protection techniques and equipment is crucial as coping with the increasingly complicated fire-risk scenarios among society.
As for Smart Fire Protection, Prof. Huiling reckoned it consists of both fires investigation and fire protection. Fires investigation refers to arranging emergency devices and supplies intelligently with a clear vision of the fire situation. While, fire protection indicates that fire control managers should clear the fire risk within their realm, lift the reliability and practicability of fire-fighting apparatus and make all relative personnel act efficiently in fire risk management. Then, the novel technology, including Big Data and AI, could be integrated to establish a Smart Fire Protection System.
Later, Prof. Huiling introduced the Smart Evacuation System which indicates escape routes for trapped people in fires, which definitely can be realized; some challenges are yet to be solved, though. The challenge mainly refers to building up a dynamically analyzing model that takes the localization information of the trapped person, fire movement, fog movement, and person movement information into account and specifies the optimal path dynamically.
Prof. Huiling suggested that there are five aspects of work that should be advanced for Smart Fire Protection:
1. For policy and law: Government should lead participators of the whole society to establish foundational databases and basic fire protection structure.
2. For communication standard: Provides a proper standard for data interface and protocol for facilitating the data fusion.
3. For data management agency: Focus on high-quality data management.
4. For social units management: Should concerns the issue of subjects' responsibility.
5. For social management: Through Social insurance and credit evaluation system, people could determine the credibility of social units on commitments toward fire protection and the reliability of manufacturers of their products.
In the end, Prof. Huiling pointed out the prospects of fire protection that specially-assigned persons are responsible for their duties. The fire protection propaganda could raise society's awareness and protect the fire fighters by improving fire-fighting equipment.
Prof. Huiling's speech in China Talk spread the concept of fire protection and brought forward the development prospects of fire protection under the new era from various points of view.
