On 20th July 2021, the USTB Research Institute of Macro-Safety Science (RIMSS) and School of Humanities and Social Science hosted the 2021 High-end Forum on Public Safety and Occupational Health in Beijing. The co-organizers include the China Occupational Safety and Health Association (COSHA), Shenzhen Urban Public Safety and Technology Institute, and the USTB Research Institute of Urbanization and Urban Safety.

Guilong WU informed this is the first significant academic forum held as the foundation of USTB RIMSS and Research Institute of Urban and Urbanization safety. It aims to build bridges for cooperation across various disciplines, motivating the development of Macro-Safety disciplinary and progressing holistic state safety. Dexue WANG, Haizhou WANG, Lizhi YU, Yang XIE, and Laibin ZHANG gave speeches.
Thematic forum scenes
After the opening ceremony, Qingrui YUE, Jingguang FAN, Fubao ZHOU, Heping ZHANG, Shenjian XU, Shaobiao ZHANG, and Longzhe JIN gave thematic reports with sharing the content of ‘Engineering Diagnosis, Treatment, and Smart Operation & Maintenance’, ‘Status of Occupational Health Engineering’, ‘Large-scale coal mining dust prevention and control in China’, ‘Aircraft Fire Prevention Technique’, ‘Post-Epidemic Emergency Legal System’, ‘Urban Safety Development’, and some latest progress of USTB MSS’s disciplinary development. The professional and farsighted suggestions will motivate the safety industry to grow, lift the capability to tackle significant risk problems and strengthen the occupational safety management system.
Sub-sessions scenes
Four sub-sessions were held afterward, namely ‘Urban Safety and Risk Management’, ‘Occupational Safety and Public Health’, ‘Emergency Management and Metallurgical Safety’, and ‘Resources Exploitation Safety’. More than 200 experts and scholars attended and communicated the novel countermeasures corresponding to the new tasks under the regular epidemic containment circumstance. The participating scholars expressed their hope to strengthen the cooperation between the subject of Safety Science and Engineering with various disciplines, such as Mining Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Material Science, Laws and Sociology, etc., and eventually fulfill the overall state safety target.
Based on the holistic state-level safety concept, the forum discussed the development path of public safety and occupational health in-depth, demonstrated the development trend of safety science, and showed the RIMSS’s advantages in integrating various subjects. Participating experts have highly recognized that the forum provides a good platform for public safety and occupational health experts to exchange experience and discuss countermeasures. It is of great significance for promoting the state’s public safety and occupational health.
